World Heart Day 29th September

World Heart Day was founded in 2000 to inform people around the globe that heart disease and stroke are the world’s leading causes of death.  This day is celebrating on 29th September. In this year we are going to celebrating world heart day with the slogan of creating heart-healthy environment. By ensuring that everyone has the chance to make healthy heart choices wherever they live, work and play, World Heart Day encourages us all to reduce our cardiovascular risk, and promotes a heart-healthy planet for those around us.

Heart is a main and vital organ of our body which regulates the blood and help to maintain our body functions by transporting nutritious substances to the single cell level. In now day heart disease are major cause of premature death. The heart disease are also known as cardiovascular disease (CVD). About 80% of premature deaths occurs from cardiovascular disease. The major cardiovascular disease include coronary artery disease, myocardial infraction (heart attack) and arrhythmias. The most common heart disease is coronary heart disease which is major cause of premature death among cardiovascular disease cases. CVD are more prone on developing as well as developed countries. The major cause of the cardiovascular problem is sedentary life style and lack of physical activity. It affects the heart and lead to dysfunction and cause the decrease blood supply to vital organ kidney and brain.


The major risk factor for the development of cardiovascular disease which can modified they are high blood pressure (hypertension), diabetes, smoking, sedentary life style, high cholesterol diet, obesity, stress, and harmful use of alcohol and lack of physical activity. Some risk factors such as family history, ethnicity and age, cannot be changed.

The symptoms of cardiovascular disease are deferent from the specific disease however general symptoms of heart disease are; headache, chest pain, shortness of breath,  numbness, weakness, pain in the neck, jaw, throat, upper abdomen or back with transforming pattern and sudden decrease or increase in blood pressure. If these symptoms are seen you should to consult with your doctor or cardiologist. When you met the doctors the doctors conform your disease by doing different test like as ECG, echocardiogram, X-ray of chest and different blood test. If the disease as conformed you should take medicine continuously and should change your behaviour.

The risk of CVD can prevent by changing your behaviour and promotes our life with continuous use of medicine. The preventive measures are; cessation of smoking, take regular exercise more than 30 minutes per day, reduce your body weight, control of blood pressure. Eat a heart healthy diet such as a diet reach in fruits vegetable grains and do not eat food that contains a fat. Maintain the cholesterol level in your body. Take adequate rest and refreshment to reduce the stress. Alcohol consumption also emphasize CVD so the consumption of alcohol should be maintain below the harmful level. At the end cardiovascular disease are develop as the major disease that kill you in premature stage. So you should change your behaviour pattern, food intake habit and change sedentary lifestyle to avoid CVD. Save our heart and be healthy.
